This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: The Maine Brew Bus, 79 Commercial St, Portland, ME 04101-4719

Pick up and drop off at Old Port Spirits and Cigars

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Island Dog Brewing, 125 John Roberts Rd, South Portland, ME 04106-3295

Island Dog Brewing was established in 2016 by Jim Denz and Tim Francis, and are now the third brewery to call South Portland home. They produce primarily Belgian and German-inspired beers (including herb and spice ales), and the company name comes from the owner’s love of rescue dogs and the sheer beauty of Coastal Maine. Jim spent time in the Army, worked as a high school teacher, and spent many years working in technology. Jim met Tim, who has experience with home brewing (in addition to a diverse background including retail, food service, and communications) at a beer festival a few years ago. Enjoy their spacious tasting room as you sip on beers infused with ingredients that you didn’t know would taste so good in beer.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Urban Farm Fermentory, 200 Anderson St, Portland, ME 04101-2562

A production center unlike any other, Urban Farm Fermentory focuses on fermentation in all of its wild and untamed glory. Hard cider you’ve surely heard of, but maybe not quite like this: Fresh-pressed local apples, wild-fermented, dry as a bone. The kombucha is where UFF truly shines and will surely surprise the uninitiated: a fermented tea, this tonic is low in alcohol but high in tart, fruity flavor, mixed with a startling variety of locally-grown herbs and spices. The part of their operation called Gruit is truly an experimental brewing lab. Here they are producing several alternative styles of beer called gruit. This was once an ancient version of beer that replaces hops with roots, herbs, and other ingredients to create unique flavor combinations. This operation is turning out some truly memorable beverages in East Bayside.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Maine Mead Works, 51 Washington Ave, Portland, ME 04101-2617

Founded in 2007 by Ben Alexander as Maine Mead Works, Honeymaker Mead strives to reintroduce the world to the oldest of all fermented beverages: a wine made from honey called mead. In collaboration with South African scholar Dr. Garth Cambray, they developed a state-of-the-art continuous fermentation system, bringing mead making into the 21st century. While traditional mead is often heavy and syrupy, you’ll be pleased to find that the team has developed a light, dry, modern take on the formula. Learn about the secret of their success and taste their extensive list of variations, including some invigorating sparkling Ram Island mead blends.
