Join this spectacular 2.5 hour oceanic cruise to take in the beauty of Point Fowler and its rugged cliffs and an incredible array of marine life. After some morning tea, you'll head to the center of the bay where you'll be able to observe all sorts of marine life in their natural habitat. You'll also have an interactive presentation where you will be able to learn more of the marine life in the area.

Join your group on board this all-in-one ocean cruise. The 50ft passenger vessel 'Asherah' will explore all the stunning bay and coastline has to offer.

Starting at 10am, you'll depart from the Fowlers Bay Jetty, where the group will make their way to the foot of the bay. This is the location of the Historical Whaling Station and a mud flat landing where many Southern Right Whales met their sad and brutal death. Hugging the coastline up towards the Point, you'll be able to take take in the rugged cliffs and magnificent little coves of Point Fowler, as well as enjoy the playful interactions with beautiful Australian sea lions and New Zealand fur seals.  Here, while enjoying a light morning tea, you will discover interesting facts about these fascinating marine mammals.

Between the tip of Point Fowler and Antarctica is nothing but the wild Southern Ocean. On this tip, half way up the sheer cliff, you will see an active White Bellied Sea Eagle nest. Also on top of the cliffs, you will also discover the stone-built historical Whaling Lookout.

At 11am, the boat will begin transit towards the center of the bay, with all eyes peeled for wings, fins and blows. This is where the excitement of the unknown occurs.  Each interaction is different and you may be greeted with breaching, tail lobs and a spectacular display of acrobatics, or you may be greeted with a quiet and loving display of bonding between mother and calf.  Regardless, the interactions you experience are unique to your cruise. There's a high possibility to also encounter the common or bottlenose dolphins, as they are known to often frequent this part of the ocean.

Once in the center of the bay, your guide will conduct a 15 minute interactive and informative whale presentation, which will include :
  • information and handling of real Southern Right Whale baleen plate
  • information and handling of real and extremely rare Sperm Whale ambergris
  • listening to and learning about real time underwater acoustics, including recordings of the famous Humpback Whale song
At around 12:15pm, it will be time to head back to the Fowlers Bay Jetty, with arrival at the jetty at 12:30pm.

  • Enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city
  • Family friendly
