NorthernShots' Aurora Chase offers the best opportunity to seek out the aurora borealis (northern lights). Based on constantly updated weather and solar activity reports, our guides take you to where the chances to see the lights are the highest.A professional photographer helps you to capture the Northern Lights on your camera. The tour does not have a pre-determined itinerary but adapts flexibly according to the visibility conditions found on the way.You will experience a dynamic 6-hours tour in full safety and comfort, departing from Tromsø and seeking the Northern Lights in the most scenic locations of the region. You can also request a professional portrait of you with the aurora (optional), all the pictures taken by our photograpers are available upon purchase and suitable for fine printing.


Dressed in warm clothing, make your own way to the tour operator's office in downtown Tromsø for the check-in at 5:30 pm.
Our staff will welcome you and introduce you to the team on duty: 2 experienced guides/photographers and an incredibly skilled driver.

Climb aboard the comfortable coach, pick your seat and be ready for the 6pm departure 

The guides will brief you on the plan for the night and the chasing strategy built around weather and solar activity forecasts. You will be escorted past fjords and mountains until we reach the best spot from where to see the northern lights, we will monitor constantly our live data feeds, relying on a strong network of  technical resources deployed in the region.

During the journey, you will be provided a detailed explanation about the scientific phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis and all the stories sourrounding it, in addition to insights on life in the Arctic and in its capital: Tromsø!

A photo workshop will be hosted by our photographer on the way to the first location, helping you to set up your camera and providing you with all the information needed to improve your photography skills and capture a stunning shots of the Northern Lights, you will be introduced to specific techniques and you'll get to learn all the tricks to take the picture of a lifetime!

In case you wish to have a professional Aurora Portrait taken by our photographer you just need to ask and this extra service will be available for you as soon as the Aurora appears in the sky. 

The tour returns to the office at about 1am.

The tour might stay in one location all night or travel to various spots, our priority is always to get the best views of the lights.
We offer refreshments as hot beverages and cookies and we guarantee the presence of a toilet at all time.
All pictures taken by our photographers are not included in the tour but can be purchased online for an addictional cost
