You will be picked up at 00:00 in Surabaya. Either at your hotel, the train station or at the airport. Highlights
In about 2 to 3 hours you will drive by private car to Cemara Lawang village. There you will change cars.
By private 4WD Jeep you continue to the viewpoint at mount Pananjakan. Enjoy a coffee break with a hot cup of coffee or tea and a local snack before the sun rises.
At around 06:00 you continue to mount Bromo. You will cross the unearthly moonlike caldera in which mount Bromo resides.
The Jeep parks near Luhur Poten temple. Then it will be a 45 minutes walk to the top of mount Bromo - one way. One can always rent a horse, if you don't like walking (not included).
Take your time walking to and back and at the top. Look over your shoulders every now and then to capture the landscape.
Once back at your Jeep you will return to Cemara Lawang village to have breakfast.
After breakfast - normally it will be around 10:00 - you return to Surabaya by private car. The drive takes about 4 hours on a regular day.
If you have time and feel up to it, you can visit the secluded Madakaripura Waterfalls. The visit to the waterfalls takes about 2 hours.
