The tour meets at 9:30am at an award-winning cafe' in the heart of the French Quarter. After giving you the brief history of New Orleans, your guide will get to the subject at hand: food. This is the tour you want to take on your first day in New Orleans! It is not a tasting tour, which allows us to cover more ground, more topics, and make unsolicited food recommendations. This is a small-group tour, which creates a more comfortable, personalized experience.
You will learn who the people were who created the famous cuisine of New Orleans and how the dishes evolved. As you walk, you will learn the history of gumbo, po-boys, jambalaya, pralines, muffalettas, beignets, cafe' au lait, crawfish etouffee', alligator sauce piquante, blackened redfish, calas, red beans and rice, boudin, bananas Foster, oysters Rockefeller, and bread pudding, just to name a few.
