Leaving Melbourne, we drive south-east to reach Moonlit Sanctuary Conservation Park.Here you will meet endangered species such as cute koalas in their natural habitat, wallabies, kookaburras, Cape Barren geese and an array of other colorful birds and reptiles.
We continue our journey to Phillip Island, the home of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and our famous Little Penguins. Upon arrival on Phillip Island depending on the time of the year and your particular interest, we will visit Woolamai Beach to see the surfers riding waves. From here, we will head to the western side of the island to enjoy magnificent views of Bass Strait and the Nobbies, a rock formation that’s home to seals and sea birds. During the warmer months between October to March, you will travel to the town of Cowes where you will have free time to enjoy dinner (at own expense) of your choice. In the cooler months from April to September, you will return to Melbourne after the Penguin Parade early to dine (at own expense) in one of Melbourne City fabulous restaurants.
The evening’s highlight is the Penguin Parade at the Visitor Center where you will watch the little penguins, also known as fairy penguins, return to their burrows after a day spent fishing out at sea. You’ll be able to see the black-and-white penguins emerge from the water and waddle up the beach to their nests. You might have an even closer view of the penguins when you make your way to the visitor’s center, as you’ll pass the world’s only ‘penguin crossing’ for penguins making their way to their nests via an alternate route. Your tour includes the Penguin Plus experience, where you will view the penguins from an exclusive viewing platform and boardwalk.
