Enjoy a half-day bike tour in Berlin and see the lesser known but equally interesting parts of Berlin's history. This tour accommodates the wish of many Berlin visitors, who are only in town for a short time, have already seen the main attractions but would still like to see a lot more of the city. See the former border-crossing Bornholmerstr./Place of Nov.9th', Zeiss-planetarium/Thaelmannpark, Ernst-Thaelmann Memorial / 14/15 m /50 tons, Velodrom/built for Olympia 2000, former slaughterhouses Berlin, Sportforum Hoehenschoenhausen/trainingsfacilities for German top athletes, Stasi-Prison Hohenschoenhausen, Watertower and Mies van der Rohe (Architect) house/Oberlake/Orankelake, Berlin oldest tramline /Weissenlake, Municipal-Area Neu Weissensee, Bethanien - Church ruins, Tradesmen - Suburbia and Caligariplatz / "Small Hollywood".

Description:
Pass through 5 very different Berlin boroughs. This tour will take you to Weißensee lake from the housing blocks at Prenzlauer Berg, via the Plattenbauten (a specific 'socialist' type of house building) in Hohenschönhausen.
Pass many interesting sites, which are not as famous as the Reichstag, but nevertheless present some noteworthy parts of Berlin's history. The first stop is the Zeiss Planetarium and via myriad small stops you will get to the huge area of the former livestock and slaughterhouse buildings, where modern buildings mix with old edifices.
Probably the best-known stop on this tour is the former Stasi building, stretching over several hectares, with the Stasi prison, where prisoners used to be kept under inhumane conditions. We are going to visit the Sportforum, where many German Olympic and world champions trained, such as the famous swimmer Franziska van Almsick. The ice hockey team Berliner Eisbären (Berlin Polar Bears) used to be based here before moving to the O2 World; and the GDR champion club BFC Dynamo has been based here since 1992.
On the way back, you will pass old breweries, some of which are still operating, and arrive at Weißensee lake, where you will hear about the area’s quite eventful past. The last stop of this three-to four-hour tour is the cultural venue Brotfabrik.
